BIF's Pages, memories of my Dad

This page is dedicated to the memory of Kenneth Lawrence Ireland, Sr. He was my father. His wife was Leona Mare Carroll. I have two sisters, Elen Kentnor and Julie Ireland Childs, and a brother John. Dad had seven grandchildren and now eight great grandchildren. Dad’s father was Lawrence Stone Ireland, and his mother was Gertrude Banks Ireland. He had two brothers, Richard, "Chunk," who passed away in Florida, and Donny who lived in Dover Delaware. My Dad was a wonderful man.

"Your dad looks like your brother!"

Dad,

You've traveled to many of the places in the world that you wanted to visit, and several, I know, are still on the bucket list.

I also know that for almost a century, you have journeyed far and wide with your mind and spirit, always inquisitive and alert. I am so proud and grateful that I have a dad with so many wonderful qualities and so much love.

Ashish took this picture at DeLorme Atlas & Gazetteer on our way back from our Maine desert trek. When I showed it to a guy we've met here in McLeod-ganj, he said, "Your dad looks like your brother!"

 As I try to share our adventure with whoever reads our blog, if I manage to bring half your enthusiasm and joy for life to my writing, I'll have done well.

 You always inspire me. I will always be grateful.

KEN'S OWN STORY

This page is dedicated to our Dad's writing. He lived a long and rich life for more than a century. He loved to write about some aspects of his life for the edification and amusement of family and friends.

It will include his writing, first drafts of episodes, family photographs, family history and genealogy. It is a work in progress.

There must a lot of family photographs floating around in shoeboxes, manila envelopes, attics. Before Mother and Dad closed their homes in Orange and Stratford, Mother divided up about 1000 family photographs, and sent them to their kids. Who knows what other treasures lie waiting to be discovered and shared. if you have any, could you please scan them and send them to me, Ken Jr.? I'll post them there.

If you send hard copies, we promise to return them once they are scanned.
